Luminaries

It was a cold night for this Arizona girl, but the result was worth it. I only wished I had 50 more to display! Check out these pictures of my first installation for Love and Light. The Loveland Art Museum graciously displayed them in front of the museum for Sculpture in the Dark and Night on the Town. I received mix reviews, as many artists do. But my favorite review of the night was when someone told me it was their favorite display of the night! As quickly as they were up, they came down. A great night, and this morning a glimpse of the lunar eclipse. A natural light installation of true amazement and beauty, one to inspire and humble me.

First off, I would like to congratulate Carrie on winning 1st place at  El Monte Grill's first annual Dia De Los Muertos Show!!!  She had two amazing pieces in the show and was with many other talented artists.  We had an amazing weekend celebrating one of our favorite holidays and remembering loved ones dearly departed.   One of our first collaborations happened this weekend as well.  Carrie and I are working with the idea of light as an art medium.  We enlisted our guests at the Dia de Los Muertos party to play with some light.  Here are the first photos taken by Ryan Kennard.  A very special thanks to both Ryan and Scott Kindt for helping us capture our first light project.

Babies On Babs

So if you are following this blog and you don't know me, I am afraid to tell you you will have to put up with adorable -if I do say so myself- pictures of my children.  They are just part of the scene and as excited about the bus as we are! (at least the toddler is)  SO - with THAT being said - meet my Happy Tiger, Jack (9months) and my Sweet Frog, Liam (2 years) getting their Halloween picture in Babs.

The First Supper

After a delicious meal of quinoa pasta and zucchini, fresh Parmesan and savory sausage we shared a pitcher of mojitos for old times sake and discussed the future for Babs. Things on the agenda this month.... Seats are coming out, a cleaning party and a glitter floor (blue bird blue of course!)

Journey Home

My Hubby and his brother negotiated the drive home - it only took us 1/2 hour to figure out the reason the air brakes weren't disengaging was because the emergency release lever on the door was open. The things you learn when you own a bus.... after that she drove like a dream. (the reflection of my bangs cracks me up and I love that Liam postponed his nap to join in on the adventure)

Babs at her old home - how do you like that Colorado sky in the background!

Babs driving down the 402 - she's not the speedy type, prefers to take in the mountain scene and get bad gas......mileage.

fall streets of Loveland

yeah!! here is me and Babs. Can't wait to get a picture with Carrie too! (I am both excited and totally freaked out at how huge she really is.... but the girl is a dream come true and fits nicely in the driveway)

Today is not the first day...

"BABS" 10/12/2011
Today is not the first day that we have talked about an idea like this;  my dear friend Carrie is constantly inspiring me to think outside the box.

Today is not the first day that we have giggled in excitement over a success or dream come true;  Carrie was also there there to help me paint my first home and peeked her head into the hospital room the day I had both my boys.

Today IS the first day, however, that we took a plunge together and decided to buy an old Blue Bird Bus and turn her into our Bluebird "Idea Generator, ~LIVE, LOVE, CREATE~, Epic Adventure, NO Regrets, Community Creator" Art BUS Studio!!! (a.k.a. BABS)

So there you have it.  We did it. We love her and the ideas for her. We may be crazy or we may be brilliant. What I do know, it that I couldn't have picked a better person to be crazy and brilliant with.  With our super supportive husbands and our amazing, patched together, non-traditional - sometimes dysfunctional, family by our side- we step into our new adventure with open hearts and open minds.

Dream Catcher

Dreaming about a bus can be constant. Time to create I say and dream away. This dream catcher represents the need to hold on to all my ideas and let the good ones slip down the feathers and into fruition. On Tuesday we will know for sure if the bus is coming home to us. In the mean time I sit on the edge of my seat, with a giant ball of excitement in my chest. Could this really happen? Only 4 more days await and the epic adventure will begin.
